Trident College is located on a 113-hectare nature reserve in Solwezi, Zambia. The school opened its doors to the first pioneering group of pupils and parents in September 2013. In addition to serving the educational needs of the local copper mining community, the College, which is now home to 280 pupils, is rapidly becoming the boarding school of choice in Zambia and a firm option for parents and pupils throughout southern Africa.

Assistant Teacher – Special Educational Needs

Trident College is looking to appoint a recently qualified SEN teacher or student who is in the final stages of studies. The successful candidate will assist the well-established SEN department in catering to the special needs of pupils who have diagnosed barriers to learning. The appointee will report to the HoD Academic and Behavioural Support and contribute directly to all areas of College life, including the comprehensive co-curricular program and boarding.

Purpose of the Job

To provide forward-thinking, progressive education focusing on supporting pupils who have barriers to learning including ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, auditory processing challenges, expressive and receptive language barriers and pupils with lowered processing speeds. The appointee should also have experience in reading and scribing for pupils who have access arrangements.



The College offers the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) curriculum to boys and girls from year 7 to year 13 with external Cambridge Certification at the end of Year 11 (IGCSE), Year 12 (AS-level) and Year 13 (A-level). Trident College Solwezi forms part of the Trident Group schools, made up of three prep schools and the College. Trident Schools are, in turn, operated by Educore Services, a leading provider of independent schooling in Zambia.

Qualifications and other Requirements

The successful candidate will either have a formal qualification in SEN or be in the final stages of acquiring such a qualification.

Commencement date: As soon as possible but no later than 1 May 2022.
