Job Summary: To attend to all electrical related issues on both surface and underground mining equipment
.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To attend to all electrical related issues on underground mining machinery
- To plan for spares requirement pertaining to electrical circuits
- To receive general supervision through inspection of work for compliance with directions, plans and/or specifications.
- To report all major defects to either the site Foreman or Site Supervisor.
- To fault find and repair equipment under contract to Epiroc Standards
- To maintain equipment on contract as per Epiroc maintenance manual
- To ensure that all relevant documentation(work order, Operator/ Mechanical/ productivity checklists) is complete as per requirement
- To ensure that all tools, workshop facility and equipment are used correctly and kept in good working condition
- Ensure good housekeeping in the workshop.
- To report on incident/accidents damage caused by the client
- Work shift rosters as required.
- Continuously development by taking up training courses on Competence Portal.
- To be available 24/7.
- To perform other related work as assigned

- To conduct and attend SHEQ talks at the start of the shift
- To wear correct PPE at all times
- To ensure good housekeeping in the workshop
- To report all incident/accidents to the immediate supervisor
- Employees to protect their own health and safety

Requirements (Education and experience)
- Craft certificate in Auto / Power Electrical or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience on surface drilling mining equipment.
- Must have worked on surface drills before, the longer the better, either Epiroc drills or Sandvik drills, Epiroc drills will be an advantage.
- Mechanical experience on drill rigs will be an advantage.
- Automation experience will be an advantage.
Key knowledge, attributes, skills and abilities
- Ability to identify electrical problems and apply diagnostic methods to achieve satisfactory results.
- Ability to interpret Hydraulic/ pneumatic/Electrical drawings.
- They must be computer literate and be able to work on excel, word and PP.
- Ability to identify, organize and use resources effectively to complete tasks with due regard to cost, quality, safety and environmental impact.
- Function as an effective member of a team.
- Manage and apply safe systems of work.
- Accept responsibility for work of self and others.
- Work reliably and effectively without close supervision, to the appropriate codes of practice.
- Attention to detail and show a strong sense of urgency.
