Operator FFS/Pillow pouch packing machine – Liquid – 260 Brands (Seba Foods Zambia Ltd.)

Job purpose

Reporting to Process Manager. The filling machine Operator is responsible for the production of good quality product and the smooth operation of the aseptic filling machine under the direction of the Filling / UHT Line Supervisor. To operate and maintain Aseptic liquid pouch Filling machines so that the product is within the specified quality standards, ensuring that the wastage (packaging and product) is within the specified limits.

• Responsible for quality, food safety and product specifications.
• Pillow pouch in different pack sizes Filling Machine Operation & Troubleshooting.
• Responsible for operating of the aseptic FFS /pillow pouch filling machines, Aseptic pouch filling machines, cardboard packing machines, cap applicator machines
• Operating and cleaning the fluid filling and packaging equipment cleaning the environment of the filling room
• maintaining sanitary equipment and environment for the packaging of fluid products
• operating fluid filling equipment at a proficient level, while filling products into gallon, half-gallon and single serve containers including milk, eggnog, fruit drinks, juices, teas and water
  operating the CIP and COP systems
• operating the floor cleaner and scrubbing equipment
• disassembling and reassembling fluid fillers and associated equipment for cleaning
• responsible for manual and hand cleaning of casers, labelers, conveyors, fillers, filler parts stackers, walls, drains, empty case conveyors, control panels, and any equipment involved in packaging
• operating and maintaining equipment of the fluid packaging area, including labelers, conveyors, fillers, casers, stackers, etc.
• maintaining accurate written production records
• performing laboratory tests and monitor weight control of product, and
  producing a quality product in a manner that meets Public and Regulatory standards.
• must have basic computer skills, including Man Machine Interface (MMI)/HMI and data entry  ability to climb ladders to clean conveyors
  Familiarity of Technical Operating System of filling machines and Packaging Machineries and Equipment.
• Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards
• Carrying out weekly care as well as daily care before and after production.
• Observe the machine performance and report if any abnormal operation.
• Report potential breakdown to maintenance department to avoid production interruption.
• Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material.
• Assist maintenance staff in performing the maintenance and repair job.
• Carry out routine checks on machinery as directed by maintenance engineer.
• Responsible to feed the right packaging materials to the filling machines on time as well as right quality.
• Recording & reporting all necessary parameters, sampling as well as palettization daily / batch sizes.
• Remove finished packaged items from machine and separate rejected items.
• Assist in checking quality of the product during production.
  Participate in maintenance activities and other related projects.
• Good knowledge about GMP (Sanitation & Hygiene) and HACCP (Food Safety).
• Participate in housekeeping as per agreed standards.
• Maintain High level of workplace hygiene and cleanliness.
• Maintain High level of personal hygiene and personal appearance.
• Able to read and understand machine manuals like operation, maintenance, electrical, spare parts manual

Key Qualifications & Requirements Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years, preferably in the pillow pouch dairy & beverage filling industry as an operator.
• Education Level: Grade 12 certificates, Diploma and Degree courses
• Candidate should have relevant experience in dairy/beverage industry
• Qualifications: Diploma and/or degree in Production Management or relevant field
• Good Command in English Language, Nyanja and Bemba
• Abilities: proven abilities of a quality supervisor background.
• Personality: Self-motivated, Completing tasks on Time.
