Reporting to: Maintenance Coordinator

Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the Northwestern region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km southwest of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Supervisor Civil Works.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, your duties will include but not limited to the following;

Responsibilities

Participates in the development of goals and objectives for the section to ensure compliance with Town policy directives, overall LPDC goals and objectives.
Ability to manage contractor performance to ensure projects and minor works are delivered to specification and agreed constraints, Develops, recommends, and monitors the section budget by reviewing past expenditures, determining future needs, and making determinations regarding the necessary resources to accomplish departmental goals.
Prepares reports and correspondence relating to section activities, direction, accomplishments, etc.
To undertake Health and Safety and Environment monitoring on site.
Responds to resident issues, determines, and implements appropriate resolutions consistent with Department policies to maintain positive community/customer relations.
Develop and nurture interdepartmental and LMC relationships to foster cooperation and support to Town Estate works



Experience & Qualifications

Diploma in Civil engineering/ Construction Management or equivalent engineering discipline
Three or more years of experience in public works operations and maintenance, two or more in a supervisory capacity.
Ability to negotiate through complex all stakeholder issues to ensure values and strategic goals of LPDC are upheld.
Working knowledge of Microsoft project, word, and spreadsheets
Registered member of The Engineering Institution of Zambia
Working Knowledge of AUTOCAD or any Technical drawing skills will be an added advantage
Technical skills in designing, interpreting drawings, planning, and preparation of BOQs
Ability to prepare, read and interpret operational budgets
Must have a driver’s license.
