One of our Clients a leading Commercial Bank has given us the mandate to assist in the identification and recruitment of highly qualified and competent professionals within the Zambian banking sector.

Job Purpose
The Senior Strategy Analyst will be responsible for the implementation of the Bank’s strategic risk management process as detailed in the bank’s risk management policy as well as planning and executing the Bank’s stakeholder management and engagement model. Responsible for supporting Business Payments & wider Payments activities and will have a particular focus on data & analytical techniques to drive margin optimization, customer growth, activation and retention & supporting financial and key metric commitments. Working closely with the front line teams, and functions including Finance, Risk, Marketing & Operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the strategy formulation process as well as functional plans to achieve the set goals
  • Responsible for guiding the overall strategy by driving ongoing dialogue with senior management, the board of directors, and the bank’s other lines of business to evaluate and execute strategic initiatives, equity investments and other strategic transactions.
  • Supporting the Banks Payments strategic agenda in partnership with the Front Office and other shared functions across multiple geographies.
  • Measuring and finding better ways to measure the performance of existing and future activities
  • Providing analysis to support optimal recruitment & pricing of new customers & performance metrics
  • Maintaining the Bank’s annual rolling strategic plan as an input into the annual planning processes (Budgets & Forecasts) and monitoring and evaluating the implementation progress
  • Identifying, assessing and preparing Board updates on the potential risks posed to the Bank’s strategy
  • Build expertise in financial analysis, develop acumen in Corporate or Wealth Management strategy, and closely monitor key industry trends to keep the team and management informed.
  • Responsible for initiating, defining, delivering and synthesizing analysis to optimize the risk-adjusted profitability of the business
  • Conducting business analysis and external benchmarking, preparing presentations, workshops and communication materials, providing support and advice to business areas, collating responses to surveys
  • Managing the execution of client service activities such as initiating and monitoring account opening and asset transfers
  • Influence deployment of marketing activities to ensure the ability to test and learn, and enable measurement of performance against goals
  • Monitoring the Bank’s share performance on the stock exchange, assessing market valuation and providing assessments for input into the Board and Executive committee reporting processes.
  • Oversee Analysts, rating agencies, Fund Managers, Regulators, financial media and other stakeholder relationships.
  • Develop, maintain and implement the stakeholder mapping and engagement plan to ensure consistent market communications

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Strategy, Finance, Business Management or another relevant field
  • Masters in any of the above fields will be a plus
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years experience in the area of Strategy, Business Intelligence, Business Management Benchmarking and Organizational Development in a Commercial Bank
  • Strong business or commercial awareness with a strategic orientation
  • Experience in executing mass customer treatment strategies such as new account pricing or existing customer profit activities
  • Proven experience in building, leading and developing highly talented teams
  • Experience in building and transforming businesses through significant change and growth
  • Must be experienced in the use of analytical and statistical tools
  • Proven experience in managing and guiding internal and external stakeholders and counterparts
  • Must be a member of a relevant Professional Body
