Barloworld Equipment provides total solutions in earthmoving equipment, materials handling and power systems and related equipment in 10 countries in Southern Africa. As the appointed Caterpillar dealer in the region, Barloworld Equipment supplies equipment, parts and service to customers in the mining, construction, handling, agricultural and energy industries.

Barloworld Equipment Zambia Limited is looking for a suitably qualified individual to fill the position.

Job Purpose:

  • Support QMS systems & attain ISO 9001:2015 certification
  • Coordinate all SHEQ activities in Lusaka
  • Attain Safety Audit Ratings
  • Facilities management
  • Execute annual facility improvement & maintenance plans
  • Managing and resolving of workplace occupational health issues

Outputs:

  • Establish and maintain a strong SHE culture in the organization.
  • Audit, monitor and measure the effectiveness of SHE programmes and adjust and improve continuously.
  • Advise and assist with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and Company standards including, but not limited to, fire prevention, health and safety awareness training and site inspections.
  • Manage SHEQ audit procedures, ensure audits are conducted on a regular basis and ensure records maintained of same.
  • Provide support and expertise to line management in incident investigation and reporting (including dangerous occurrences and occupational diseases).
  • SHEQ training of staff – develop a SHEQ Communication Strategy for all levels of staff, to include written information, toolbox talks and management briefs.

  • Building Management and Administration
  • Ensure Safety Induction Program for new employees & visitors
  • Advising and collaborating with management to resolve occupational health issues
  • Create and execute studies to monitor and assess employee’s exposure to health risks and  to measure the effectiveness of occupational health programs, policies and procedure
  • Proposing and leading the implementation of programs to protect employee’s health, and implementing ergonomics
  • Maintaining current knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation
  • Ensuring employee awareness of occupational health and safety concerns, programs, and regulations by conducting training presentations.

Risk Management



  • Manage Facilities  on budget (Depots, Expatriate Housing, Guesthouse)
  • Drive Sustainability metrics & Continuous Improvement Projects
  • Drive Safety metrics for region & cascade objectives to all departments
  • Ensure all annual regulatory compliance documents linked to building facilities and renewals are done.

  • Excellent report writing skills

  • Sound business communication and presentation skills;

Qualifications & Experience

  • G12 Full Certificate
  • Health & Safety Qualifications (BSc Degree or Diploma equivalent)
  • Occupation Health & Hygiene Qualifications -Chemistry or Environmental / Public Health (BSc Degree or Diploma equivalent)-added advantage
  • Min. 3-5 Years Industry Experience in Safety, Health, Environment & Quality
  • OSHA Regulatory Knowledge Experience
  • Contractor Management experience & exposure
  • Budgeting & Finance acumen
  • Quality Management Systems / ISO standard certification knowledge
  • Clean driver’s license;
  • Counseling competence or experience an advantage
  • Membership in OSHA

Proven competencies:



  • Sound HR and IR skills;
  • Good working knowledge of legislation and governing earth moving equipment;
  • Understand and execute Written and verbal contracts
